Fairy tale: PUSS IN BOOTS (simplified version for third
graders)
There
is a miller. He has three sons. He gives his youngest son a cat. The boy
doesn´t like the cat at first. He
is sad, but the cat has incredible ideas. First, he wants boots. Then he catches
a rabbit in the forest and visits the palace.
The cat offers the rabbit to the King as a gift from his master.
The cat tells the King that his master is the “Marquis
of Carabas”, a very important
person. Later, the cat has another idea: the cat will kill the bad ogre so that the farmers can tell the King that the land belongs to the Marquis
of Carabas.
The cat has some tricks
and the ogre turns into a lion and then a mouse.
But the cat can eat the mouse, so goodbye
ogre. Now the cat has got a palace.
One day, the King and the princess
go near the river. The cat tells
the boy to jump into the water. The King helps the boy and invites
him to the royal palace. They say the boy is the Marquis of Carabas.
In the end the boy and the princess fall in love and get married. The cat is very happy.
