On International Women's Day, let's watch a video about equality and girl power.

1- What kind of TV programme is about? Is it a documentary? Is it a quiz show? Is it the TV news?

2- Where are the children? What are they doing?

Fairy tale: PUSS IN BOOTS (simplified version for third graders)

 

There is a miller. He has three sons. He gives his youngest son a cat. The boy doesn´t like the cat at first. He is sad, but the cat has incredible ideas. First, he wants boots. Then he catches a rabbit in the forest and visits the palace. The cat offers the rabbit to the King as a gift from his master.

The cat tells the King that his master is the “Marquis of Carabas”, a very important person. Later, the cat has another idea: the cat will kill the bad ogre so that the farmers can tell the King that the land belongs to the Marquis of Carabas.

The cat has some tricks and the ogre turns into a lion and then a mouse. But the cat can eat the mouse, so goodbye ogre. Now the cat has got a palace.

One day, the King and the princess go near the river. The cat tells the boy to jump into the water. The King helps the boy and invites him to the royal palace. They say the boy is the Marquis of Carabas.

In the end the boy and the princess fall in love and get married. The cat is very happy. THE END

Traducción del inglés-"El gato con botas" es un cuento de hadas italiano, más tarde difundido por el resto de Europa, sobre un gato antropomórfico que usa el engaño para obtener poder, riqueza y la mano de una princesa en matrimonio para su amo sin dinero.

The boy to the princess: hello princess. I am very sorry. My name is not Carabas. I’m not the marquis of carabas.

The princess: yes. I know. You are the miller’s son. Don´t worry. The boy: you know? Really? Ohhhh…I am very sad.

The princess: it is ok. You are sincere and honest now and I like you. Clothes and names are not important to me.

The boy: oh, thank you. I love you for real, princess.

 

The King: Today I am very happy, my son.

The boy: I feel wonderful. You are my family now.
